Over the years, the Friends of the Wentzville Parks has donated a great deal to the City of Wentzville's Parks and Recreation Department, as well as the residents of Wentzville and surrounding areas. Whether that be through volunteering at different events, donating funds to help build additions to existing parks, or paying for residents of Wentzville who are experiencing an unusual hardship to participate in recreational activities.
Each event a Friend of the Wentzville Parks attends is volunteer work. Events that you might see a Friend at are Wentzville Days, Liberty Fest, and Fall Fest. We have also volunteered to plant trees throughout the City of Wentzville, and handed out programs and candy canes at Holiday Night Lights.
One of our organizations main focuses is to raise funds to create additions in existing parks. Some of our additions can be seen below in the picture gallery. We have donated funds to help build an outdoor basketball court, a batting cage, and a beautifully landscaped staircase from one section of the parking lot to another, all at Progress Park.
The contribution our organization is most proud of is the WE P.L.A.Y. Scholarship. We have the pleasure of giving children the opportunity to participate in different programs, or have a season pass to our facilities. We believe that children should have access to amusement regardless of their family’s financial state.
